Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre
Located in the Rocky Mountains about 10 miles west of Denver, Red Rocks Amphitheatre is an outdoor amphitheater carved out of rock. Up to 9,525 people can be seated in an amphitheater-like setting with a gigantic, disc-shaped rock slanted behind the stage, a massive vertical rock slanted outward from stage right, and many enormous outcrops slanted outwards from stage left. The land for Red Rocks was purchased by Denver in 1927, and the amphitheater was built starting in 1936, opening to the community in June 1941.
There have been many famous film and TV performances and recordings there since then. The Music Hall of Fame (in Colorado) debuted in the Red Rocks Trading Post in June 2015. The top row of seats at the amphitheater is roughly 6,400 feet above sea level. Also, the 868-acre Red Rocks Park that surrounds it is a popular place for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Red Rocks Park is a portion of the Denver Mountain Parks. The amphitheater there belongs to the city and county. A view of downtown Denver’s cityscape may be seen to the left of the stage when the audience faces east-northeast.
Dinosaur National Monument

Dinosaur fossils, including those of Allosaurus, Abydosaurus, Deinonychus, and several types of sauropods, have been discovered at the park’s more than 800 paleontological sites. All that remains of the Abydosaurus is its nearly entire skull, lower jaw, and the first four vertebrae in its neck.
